This is the 11th Gallery of our 2019 Road Trip and the second day at Yellowstone National Park. The first day was in the high country, quite different from the hot springs, geysers, rivers and falls of this gallery.

The day started at the Pioneer Motel in the town of West Yellowstone. Our initial plan was to revisit Old Faithful and the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone but the traffic was too dense for our tastes. Instead we headed to Firehole Road Falls and the Grand Prismatic Basin.

The springs in the Grand Prismatic Basin were outstanding and more colorful than anything we have ever seen. The wind was blowing so hard that people were literally losing their hats. Someone warned us but even though I was wearing my Tilley Hat with a chin strap, the wind caught it and made it a permanent part of the hot springs experience (see photos). While there we spent some time with a family whose pictures we took to add to our memories (and hopefully theirs).
