This gallery records our a trip to Ronks, Pa. On our docket was the Sight and Sound production of Esther, a dinner with the Lapp family (Amish friends who bred our Akita, Jessie), and photos of the Amish country in Lancaster County.

The Sight and Sound theater is the largest stage east of the Mississippi and produces world class musical productions of Biblical events. The stage wraps around and above the audience and allows for live animal participation throughout the theater and on the stage. This was our fourth visit and possibly the best. It is as frustrating trying to describe the experience as it is to describe the Grand Canyon. We can only say that this is an experience that should be on everyone's bucket list.

We met the Lapp's 2 1/2 years ago when we picked up our Akita, Jessie (named after Jesse Lapp pictured with Jessie's brother-in-law, Domino) Although our Jessie could hardly be called a lap dog, she is literally a Lapp dog.

After an afternoon visit with the Lapp's and their new Akita puppies, we went to the Good and Plenty Restaurant where we introduced Jessie to some goats.

As we drove along the back roads the weather changed and we experienced heavy rains with high winds and local flooding. It was challenging to drive through some of the flooding areas but we managed without any difficulty.

The Lapps were to meet us at a local restaurant at 7PM (approx 5 miles from their farm). Although the rain had reduced, we were not sure they would be able to make it through the puddles and the wet roads. But no problem. They arrived and we were able to take 4 photos of their arrival as they came down the road, turned and parked behind the restaurant (see photo with clear image of son, Isaac, in the buggy). Unfortunately the restaurant had just closed but the Lapps had no problem opting to go to another restaurant approx 3 miles further along. By the time we were parked at the next restaurant (The Golden Corral...Jesse's choice) they pulled into the parking lot. When asked how far the horse can go at that speed, they said approx 12 miles one way. Then, after a rest, another 12 miles home. We had a great time at the restaurant and look forward to another visit next year.

The next day was sunny and we were able to follow up with the back roads of Lancaster before heading home and having our favorite Lobster roll at the famous Abbott's Lobster in the Rough near Mystic, CT.
