This is the 1st of 14 Galleries that captures our 2022 Road Trip that took us from Cape Cod, MA to Ft Lauderdale, FL, New Orleans, LA, Colorado Springs, CO, Branson, MO and back to MA.
In our Galleries we like to capture the "feel of the road" as we pass through different parts of the country. These pictures are usually through the windshield taken with cell phones. They are not of the highest quality but still include some of our favorites. They highlight changes in topography, lifestyles, sources of income and people we meet along the way. One of our favorite memories was The Tail of the Dragon.

The Tail of the Dragon is considered one of the worlds top roads for challenging the skills of sports car and motorcycle enthusiasts. Located in the Smokey Mtns on the Tennessee/N.Carolina line, it has 318 curves in 11 miles. This is not a road for sight seeing as the road itself is the source of entertainment. The curves come up so quickly that one must concentrate 100% to stay on the road. Pam captures a little bit of the feeling in 2 Videos (#23 & #24). #24 captures what it is like to be a dog trying to stay upright while dealing with the G-Forces in the corners.

Some trivia on the Tail of the Dragon:
1. On the N Carolina side at Fugitive Bridge you can see the dam where Harrison Ford jumped in the movie, "Fugitive".
2. This Bridge is also the backdrop for a scene in the 1958 cult classic, "Two Lane Blacktop" starring Robert Mitchum.
3. The Straight line distance from start to finish of the 11 miles is 6.7 miles.
4. On average there are 318 corners 183 feet apart, each with an entrance/exit angle of 60 degrees and a corner radius of 29 feet.
