Seagull Beach is only 1 1/2 miles from Pam. It is a little different every time we visit. On this occasion we decided to extend our walk to a hike of about 5 miles, going down to a conservation area that we thought you could visit as long as you stayed on the beach. After spending an hour in that area we were told that the public was welcome only during low tide. As you can see it was high tide when we were there. Towards the end someone told us to leave because some conservationists were shooting coyotes. "Oh, so that's why the guy with the beagle was wearing camouflage clothing". From our point of view that Beagle was less a hunter and more likely bait.

In any case, we finally got to see a Piping Plover. See pictures of the little shore bird that moves its feet faster than the eye can follow. The Piping Plover is an endangered species that is either loved or hated depending on whether you are a tree-hugger or a Live Free or Die type. Many of the dunes on the cape and islands are closed to the public so the Piping Plover might breed undisturbed.

Oh, I almost forgot. My Wonderful Sister in-law, Chris has the last name of Brandt. "Brandt" is the name of the Black and White Ducks that are pictured. We only see them at Seagull Beach.
