Patriot's Day is a big deal in Massachusetts. It require's Bob's friends to get up at 4:45AM. Ask Richard. It begins in the middle of the night with a re-enactment of Paul Revere's ride to warn that "The British are Coming". As Paul and William Dawes make their respective rides, the British march all night towards Concord. Their mission is to find weapons that were rumored to be hidden in that town. When the British Red Coats arrive at Lexington it is 6:00AM and they are pretty cranky. When they are verbally assaulted by the Lexington Minutemen someone breaks rank and fires upon the Minutemen at point blank range. What follows is the first scirmish of the Revolutionary War. The British prevail--temporarily. From Lexington they march on to Concord where they are driven back by the local militia (farmers) who have mustered across the river on the other side of the Concord bridge. In a panic the British work their way back to Boston, suffering many casualties along the way. This gallery records a 6:00 AM re-enactment of the first scirmish in Lexington. It then takes you to the Old Concord Bridge where "The Shot Heard Round the World" takes place. It is only then that Richard can persuade Bob to partake of some good old American Apple Pie.
