Join Bob and Pam as they celebrate the 90th Anniversay of the Bates Outing Club (second oldest in the country; first co-ed... a bit of trivia: The Appalachian Trail used to go from Georgia to Mt Washington. It was the Bates Outing Club that cleared the trail from Mt. Washington to Mt. Katahidin, where the trail now ends). But before we go to the lecture, travel with us as we re-visit Bates in the dead of winter. You may not know that Bob was the first Bates Bobcat. Now watch Pam turn her back on Bob and get cozy with a real Bobcat. Eat at the new Commons and then come with us to the main attraction: Tyler Fish (Class of '96) recounts his 2009 epic trip to the north pole... the first Unsupported American Expedition from the top of North America to the North Pole (no dogs, no air drops. Just two men pulling 600 lbs of equipment on skis, snowshoes and in the water using the Elementary Backstroke). 55 Days, 480 miles and temperatures of -40F.
