After touring Maine's Winter Harbor and Acadia North we turned west towards NH. One of our favorite spots in NH is Mt. Washington, the highest mountain in the Northeast. In our youth, both Pam and I (separately) would hike Mt. Washington as one of our regular activities. Today, we just get in the car and drive up the Mt. Washington Auto Road, a feat of construction that has a long and colorful history. Mt. Washington has a year round weather station on the top and is claimed to have the "Worst Weather in the World." Part of this claim is based on the fact that it has the bragging rights to the highest wind speed ever recorded on the face of the earth.
