This is the second out of 3 galleries taken at Banff National Park AB, Canada.
The day began in Golden, BC where we had coffee at the Ponderosa. From there we worked our way back to Banff National Park and went north on the Ice Fields Parkway--one of the most scenic roads we have ever traveled. The weather was unsettled changing from sun to overcast, to storm, lightning and back again. While this may not sound ideal, it was for us. Every turn of the road opened up a new vista making it one of the most memorable days of our trip.

At one point we stopped at a campsite where we met a 6' 10" cyclist who was on his way to Vancouver and had been biking all day in the rain. We also met a Mennonite Woman with two children who was touring western Canada.

From there we went north over Sunwapta Pass to view the Athabasca Glacier before turning around and stopping at Bow Lake where we took pictures of the Lake and Crowfoot Glacier. (the next Gallery starts at Bow Lake and continues in Banff National Park to Moraine Lake.

At the bottom of this gallery are 17 videos which don't always load well for viewing (depends on the time of day and the demands on the Zenfolio Server). If you catch the Server at the right time, the videos will give you a good feel for how the weather added to the drama of the day.
